"Susan handled two residential transactions for me, my own personal residence, and a residential property owned by a not- for-profit youth social services organization on whose Board I sit. I see there are many testimonials regarding Susan’s knowledge of the real estate market as well as her professionalism and skills as an agent, both as a buyer or seller. In my experience all are warranted, so I am not surprised and, frankly there is not much I can add in this regard. However, what I will testify to are her personal ethics and dedication. Susan actually cares and she works hard, very. I do not say this lightly. She goes far beyond the typical transaction requirements for a real estate sales agent - she earns her fees. Let me cite my personal experiences and observations. Susan didn’t just help tidy and ‘stage’ my residence, she actually came over in her working clothes and helped me clean and fix the house for about three days prior to marketing and showings. I didn’t ask her to and I certainly didn’t expect it. In fact I tried to ‘shoo’ her away but she insisted. Furthermore, on the day we closed the sale, my ex-wife did not remove many of her possessions and chose not to leave the residence clean and tidy. Susan and I were informed at 5 pm on a Friday that the residence was not in acceptable condition for ownership transfer and that legal action might be initiated if the situation was not promptly remedied. Susan immediately came over and spent several hours on a Friday evening helping remove the remaining garbage and other items (which were substantial). Similarly Susan ‘put on her working clothes’ and jumped in at the not-for-profit residence. Not only did she hire and organize various cleaning, painting, repair, and junk removal services, but she also helped out where those services fell short. She was on site almost every day for several weeks during this process. When Susan was hired by our Board to sell the property, she volunteered to donate a portion of her selling commission to the charity. Susan’s offer was substantial and not just a token donation for ‘show’. However, after witnessing Susan’s efforts to get the property ready for sale and properly marketed, the Board subsequently communicated that no donation was expected. Nonetheless, two weeks after closing date, Susan wrote our Board to inform them that she would make the donation she had promised despite the Board’s ‘release’ of any such expectation or moral obligation. I too am in sales so I think I know somethig about ‘style versus substance’. I also consider myself a very good judge of character and Susan Macleod is ‘good character’. …..The property in question was a little tricky and required a Realtor with a solid sales strategy and a complete understanding of the Toronto housing market. Susan possesses both. There were details of the sale which required some extra research on her part and she made sure to secure advice from first-class sources.
